Ditched my 17" HP and my Dell Desktop when I got my 15" MBP. I tried juggling different laptops and what not but it got to be kind of a pain. I do everything on my MBP now and along with the 1TB backup drive and countless cloud storage accounts, I'm pretty good with my setup now. That and I have about 10 USB keys so the important data I need will always come with me.

Even a point'n'shoot camera will yield better results than a cell phone gimmick. Unless all I wanted to do was take illicit snapshots of the price of canned corn in a grocery store's tinned vegetables aisle... grocery stores say they don't like people taking pictures of things in their stores...

You should be able to buy heatsink gel at any serious computer store (not best buy, et al). Please be forewarned, I've never personally done that, but I know that stuff is out there.

You CANNOT install windows 7 from an external drive.. Microsoft is to blame for this one as they prefer to have you install it from an internal drive.. I believe there is a way to get it to boot from a USB flash drive, but it requires a whole lot of tweaking to get it to work.. Not worth it, in my opinion.. OS X is a whole different story, however - that can be installed from virtually any external drive or flash drive.
its for my gfs parents they need ie to watch dabdate.com streaming. If I could get it to stream on os x I would do it in a heart beat even bought flip4mac.

Okay, so I've restored the drive to one partition, but now when i try to download the window support software I get an error message telling me "the support software is not available".
Surely it's not usually this difficult?

Everytime I upgrade to a new version of LR I try Aperture, I tend to find it struggles badly on my Mac Mini - Lightroom doesn't set the world on fire in terms of performance - but it works.
For me LR is a more polished application, I have no issues with the interface (used it from Beta version) or the need to switch from Library to Develop modules.

I'm surprised this compiles (i.e. that you only get errors when linking). The line

must have thrown an error at you, since "inputusername" is not visible to functions outside the class.
Where you define the code, you need to put in classname::functionname
Do this for every function you define. This need not be done if you are within the class declaration.

I use one of those cheap ones for more than an year! I'm very satisfied. Although I had to modify it a little bit it costed me about 10$.
Interesting you say that. I had to modify mine as well to get my Vertex 2 to fit in the OptiBay. I had to shave down some of the plastic to get the screw slots to line up properly. The MCE OptiBay is kinda flimsy, but it does seem to work just fine.

wondering if anyone other than me has specific reasons for folding. have not seen a thread or discussion, so thought i would ask. my reason is my sister that i lost to cancer, hence my id; 4 Joan N. A. i couldn't stand to do nothing, and this seemed like a wonderful way to do something and put lots of old hardware back to work at the same time.
hope i didn't ask a wrong question. just curious.

Last time I jailbrok was my 3G, Now I have an i4 with 4.3.2 and when they went untethered recently I jailbroke.
I havent used many themes long enough to be sure, so this might just be the theme I'm using. However with the Aquarium theme, and I suspect many others, every day I get several banner ads that pop up in the background, behind the icons.
What the heck is the deal with that? I don't need what should be a static background image pulling web content to serve me up ads.
Is this a thing the developer of the theme controls, is it a consequence of having the jailbreak, or something else?
More importantly how do I turn it off.
I searched the forum but could not find a thread that covered this.

But when u first connect it to iTunes it's gonna ask you to update to 4.3 which we will just decline for the time being....

ok, so now I'm posting from win7 using ie so it's all ok.
When win7 started it paused for quite some time then said to restart to use new device just found.
So ntfs-3g changes the way the partition works even when uninstalled.
Won't go down that road again.:confused:

I second Andy McKee and Raul Midon. I would look at somebody like Newton Faulkner. He's big in england and his live set is just him and acoustic rather than with some of the other instruments on the two albums. Maybe City & Colour for something a bit more emo.
