I salvaged 4 of the 1st generation iMacs from a storage closet. Unfortunately the RAM is so abysmal that I can't begin to install OS X.
I can't find OS 9.x install discs for a reasonable price. They're all a fortune.
If anyone can help me acquire, borrow, copy, torrent, whatever a version of this OS we (my students and I) would appreciate it.
Of course, you're asking, "What the heck will students do with these relics?" We have kids with multiple disabilities. We're running some VERY basic software, games, etc. So these iMacs will provide basic functionality needed.

What were the airport issues you were having? At home, my wireless seems a bit quicker to load pages, but at Borders, I notice that my computer finds the wireless connection way faster and connects equally fast.

There is a minor difference - the new iMacs have an ambient light sensor which will provide ideal brightness whether you are in a dark or well-lit environment.
If you manually set the brightness, does it return? Perhaps the display was set too bright/dim for the conditions?

There's nothing to avoid really. It's near the best version of lemmings since the Amiga ones.
Faults are the no mouse support, but in fairness the controller works very well. And 40 levels wont last you forever.
But like I say for �3.50 can you really complain ?

iMacs have never had HDMI ports.

I think I got what you want, but unfortunately I tweaked a little here and there too much and so I'm not completely sure what all I changed. I'm attaching a screen shot of the result in Firefox 4 RC1. As a note, the page doesn't look right in Opera 11. The background gradient color on the body is what's off.
Here's the aside, which was the crucial part. This is only what I added to the existing styles.

For sale: Ipod nano, 2nd gen, 4 gig. capacity, works great, like new: no scratches that I know of, screen is nice, has been kept in case or sleeve (from my 1st gen nano) all its life. It's the Product Red color. Comes with 'iwave' black metal case. Despite what the pictures may show, the screen is bright and clear; the red aluminum is uniform in color and rather immaculate.
Includes retail packaging (no headphones unless you're really interested in sharing used ones...), USB cable, documentation, stickers, dock adapter, a number of UPC-ed bags from when I opened it. Package is missing UPC code from last year's back to school promotion for college students. I'm trying to sell my way into an ipod Touch. Also would entertain (crazed?) offers of trade + $ for touch.

If you want to survive, then just don't do part-time. Full time spots at Apple retail are extremely hard to come by.
This is also hard to come by in all sectors of this bad job market.. the only sector of the job market remotely doing very well is HEALTH CARE.. you will always need nurses, doctors, etc... but no one needs industrial workers or customer service.. retail is a DEAD END as far as I am concerned..

I have been trying for three days to get a simple Servlet to work. Tomcat is working and displaying the work. I have created the blasted web.xml, .java, and .class files. All I get is HTTP 404 /Hi/ or /Hello/ could not be found. I hate Tomcat, I hate Java Servlets. If anyone can help please, please, please, I beg you, please help. Here is the java file:

Pages needs an urgent update 'cause when you are working with more than 29 pages, including hi resolution photographs...is so damn slow!:mad:

I really don't get what the confusion is about Pages vs Word. Of course Word is fast, but Pages is way more flexible. Period.

Here's the situation...
Going to a party. The room has power, but the house does not have internet (believe it or not...), and the area doesn't really get strong cell/data signals.
Are there any speakers that I can simply plug into a power outlet (or use batteries) and then can talk to my iPhone (or MacBook) wirelessly/bluetooth, and the sound can fill a room maybe 45ft x 60ft (doesn't have to be super loud like a concert, more like background music). I would like there to be 2 (or more) speakers in the room so everyone can hear clearly. Portable speakers with an iPhone dock (like a Base SoundDock or or Logitech S715) I don't think will cut it - I don't want to have to have it cranked up by some people just to folks on the other side of the room can hear ok.
Fine if I have to get something to plug into the iPhone/laptop, or some main "controller" unit that I have to plug into them that then talks to the speakers. Basically I'm envisioning something like a Sonos S5 that doesn't require an internet connection (which it seems to from all the material I have read). I'm flexible on dollars - just can't have any cords running across the room. Or like a Jawbone JAMBOX, but have the ability to set up 2+ speakers at the same time (doesn't have to be stereo, which I'm not sure would even be possible anyways).

You ARE getting some swap and page outs though, which will slow things down. It's not an issue right now, but if those numbers start getting too large it means you're writing too much to the drive (and reading) and that WILL slow your ass way down.
Might I ask what you were using? 6GB should be plenty of RAM.

I suspect most people who are looking for a solution wouldn't be going down a "pro" vs "consumer" road, but rather after a specific kind of application (an Internet utility, for example). This doesn't exclude a "Software->Apple Prosumer" category.
Hardware should similarly have a standard breakdown: Displays, CPUs, Mouses, etc... No need to necessarily differentiate between Apple/non-Apple stuff here.
