Intresting someone brought up Gandhi's name here, we just'nt could manage more than few hundred to get togather to raise one voice, I just wonder if I think how this person was able to inspire millions to march on street and follow him without any questions asked.

I first immigrated to Canada, got my citizenship and then came here to the US and am languishing in this stupid GC queue for the past 7 years..
Inspite of all the freedom to go back to Canada, I would now, rather move back to India than any other place...
Forget the little hardships in India..what matters is that India's IT economy is booming...booming like probably no where else in the world!
Why not, go back there, repay the country that gave me all the skills in the first place, and at the same time participate in that booming economy?

Most of the IVans have given good suggestions though no one is a pro on domestic violence case. We are not in stone age - Personally, I dont like any kind of violence against women including the people who does. I think you should get a good attorney, prove that you are innocent and move on.

If someone enter USA they can bring in 10K$ with them in any form, ask you parents to go to any center in india private broker or anyone and buy $$ (thye charge some amount and that is in paise if they buy $ from you at 39 then they will sell it at 39.50 or so)
You can buy as much as you want 100K$ or more. then when someone from india is coming then they can hand it to him and he can give it to you here.
Well in that case you "may" get caught by IRS (if they audit ). But in case of wire transfer you can prove that the money came from India in which there would not be any tax liability.

Assuming @gc28262 doesnt know this because of his personal experiences and exposure, do you guys think *all* consulting companies charge their employees money for the Visas? I know personally only those who doesnt charge. One of the consultants I know strives to differentiate himself from these. He provides benefits like in a large company.
One thing guys, if you know abuse and are silent because of any reason (could be you want your spouses/brother's H1Bs to go through or any reason), you are all guilty. So, dont try to be naive..
I dont want to tell anything about L1B because I dont know if there is anything illegal in anything companies are doing. First this is no slave labor. It is a free will employment. Just because somebody is ready to do some work for less, legally, you should not be worried too much. Instead of worrying about billing, try to upgrade yourselves to become better in skills, capabilities etc...your market value will automatically be upheld if not become more. Being an L1B myself, I dont see any single day I felt like I was abused or I am cheated by my company.

My I-140 has not been approved and I am not going in for PP. I thought about it yesterday, but even if the I-140 was approved there is no guarantee that 485 would be approved before Nov.1st.

How the hell can all the catagories after EB3 be current yet EB3 be back logged???? By rights they should be unavilable until we are current.
This is just so unfair.

I only meant if you have the native country license already or if you can get it remotely. Leaving the US for the express purpose of getting you native country license would be an overkill...as you would agree :)
Unfortunately, I can't leave the US for the following reasons
a) AOS pending
b) H1 expiring soon
c) Won't get any vacation time as just joined a new job.

when a person applied his GC process 2002 EB3 with 3 years experience per say, another person 2004 EB2 with 5 years experience. How come EB2 guys is smarter then EB2. By the way lot of people in those days who applied under EB3 are well qualified and well educated. In my experience most of them are doing jobs that will easily comes under EB2.

I'm guessing with fewer jobs available for next year, there will be a huge leap - EB2 may move to 2006 and EB3 to 2003...this is just a guess, an attempt to speak things into existence :)

Schedule A group 2 is "exceptional ability" similar to the EB1 but with less stringent guidelines. You have to show international acclaim. I work for a non-profit that has international links.

There is no big secret, except little bit of planning and starting something.
I came here in 1997(at 22), but was in school for 2 years, started working in 1999. As soon as I started, I put money in 401k. I married early in 2000(I was only 25 then), my wife already did her M.S by then, she started working in 2000 even before our marriage. I made her put into her 401k(max out most of the time), we also put into esop. Together we have 300k in investment assests in 401k. Then I started a brokerage account and put 1500 every month, that accumualted to 150k now.
I brought house early, as soon as I am out of PT, with in first year of H-1, it didn't appreciate much but I still have an equity of 200k in primary house(I took 15 year mortgage) and I brought another house, that I rent out which as an equity of 50k. I have some cash. I brought couple of plots in india and also constructing an house in my native town in India.
But i want to do something else, I am happy with my life, for last two years, I got into golf, tennis and exercise, trying to be physically fit. I used to worry about GC before, not any more, whatever happens will happen.
Except that I am not progressing ahead in my carreer, I want to do MBA and get into something else. Right now most of my money goes to day care for two of my kids around 24,000.
More than money, you have to develop right habits, be healthy and have positive attitude.
In my case, Secrets of my lifestyle are
1. Getting started early, buying an house at 26. STarting 401k early.
2. Marrying a girl, who is already working.
3. Maxing my 401k and esop plan.

All 3 points mentioned do not come under "LIFESTYLE".

The instructions say this "NOTE: Please spell out U.S. Department of Homeland Security; do not use the initials "USDHS" or "DHS.""
You have written the most important words, atleast u did not abbreviate!
Also remember there is NO OTHER "department of homeland security" in the world. Check has gone to USCIS office. They know u mean US, even if u did not write it.
So I am confident that their banks will cash your check. Keep a watch on your bank online. Texas cashed our checks in 7 days and also sent receipt. Dont know how Nebraska is doing. Call USCIS in 1-2 weeks if they did not cash checks.
Worst case they will send the application back. You can then quickly fix the check and resend application. Hopefully if you have applied in time, then a delay of 1-2 weeks does not matter.

When I applied for my labor , Even though , Ad is given for B.S and 7+ years of experience, My employer told me that My labor is applied on Eb3.
After my labor was cleared, when applying for I-140 , we had to change the attorney.The new attorney applied I-140 in EB2 category.
when I asked the new attorney about this , she informed me that , since I have got B.S and 10+ years of experience, I am eligible for EB2.
since I did not get to see the Labor clearance certificate, I dont know on what basis Labor is cleared.
Now I am confused whether I am in EB2 or EB3.

Do you know how much more the premium would be for this product compared to regular term? I am guessing a lot more. In that case whole life is better where the cash value generated would pay much more after 30 years based on a low 5.5 - 6% estimated annual return. But of course it is for folks who will stay in US at least 15 years+ because after 15 yeras the Cash Value could itself pay for the permium and you do not have to pay any more premuims unless you wish to boost the Cash Value further.
Its not a lot more.. about $200 more per year.. ... but atleast you get back all your money..
